For me-a huge part of my ambulatory exercise has been belly dance. I’ve been a belly dancer since I saw Shakira and just started moving my hips non stop-‘whenever-wherever’
I’ve been a dancer since two years old, unless it was documented I came out of the womb dancing
I decided in 2012 to pursue belly dance and perfected my dance at home, by the seaside, on the mountain top and in areas that were supportive and I didn’t feel self conscious.
I am grateful for belly dance because it is one of the reasons I stayed alive and ambulatory with a spinal cord injury caused by blunt force trauma-domestic abuse
I can’t dance how I used to-
I can’t hike how I used to
I can’t live how I used to-
But I refuse to let him take away one of my favorite things! DANCE!
Todays movement of the day-
Hip lift and drop

Never STOP doing what you love-
Dance until you fall down was not a metaphor for me in this time-it was reality.
